JAIPUR: Mechanized combat groups of both Indian and Russia took part in the joint military training exercise of the two countries at Mahajan Field Firing Range here on Friday. This is for the first time that a joint exercise is pitched at the combat group level between the two countries. On Friday, the armies of both the countries exhibited their skills before a visiting group of mediapersons.
The joint planning exercise will encompass terrain evaluation, intelligence collation and planning the conduct of operation to improve interoperability and joint functionality for future UN-sponsored interventions in other regions of the world.
During the exercise, experienced military speakers and participants shared their thought process based on experience gained in these fields while operating in different regions of the world.
The war game Indra 2013 is taking place under the aegis of Jaipur headquartered South Western Command of the Army at the firing range, which has a world-class training infrastructure developed in the last two to three years. The field firing range is utilized for carrying out joint international exercises with friendly foreign countries like Russia, USA, UK, France, Thailand and Kazakhstan.
